Outpatient Ultrasound

VICSD is proud to offer the first true outpatient ultrasound service in San Diego. By offering this outpatient service, we are able to provide same day access to ultrasound diagnostics.

The outpatient ultrasound service is reserved for stable patients that are able to return home or to the care of their veterinarian at the completion of the examination. If a pet is unstable or will likely require supportive care, the case should be referred to an emergency facility. While we care very much for the well being of our patients, we do not provide general veterinary services.

Pet owners are invited to bring their pet to VICSD and wait while the examination is being performed. Alternatively, pets can be dropped off at the referring veterinarian’s hospital. VICSD will arrange to have pets transported to our facility and returned back to the referring veterinarian’s hospital.

At the completion of the study a full report, analysis of findings, and appropriate recommendations will be provided to the referring veterinarian. The image obtained during the study are also available on-line. If the pet owner is present at the completion of the examination, we are happy to discuss the ultrasound test results with the pet owners after discussing the case with the referring veterinarian. If the referring veterinarian is not available at the completion of the study, we will not be at liberty to discuss the case with the pet owner.

All outpatient ultrasound appointments must be scheduled directly by a veterinarian.
